Shopping in the York Area

» York City Centre: York's city centre is very compact, and can easily be crossed on foot within 15 minutes. Some of the main areas in York for shopping are:

Coppergate [Body Shop, Dolcis, Clarks Shoes, Fenwicks, Boots, Evans, Thomas the Baker, Starbucks, Marks & Spencer, and more].

Newgate Market, between theYork Minster and Parliament Street - full of stalls selling everything from fruit and vegetables to clothing.

Stonegate [the world famous Mulberry Hall, Yves Rocher, Next, Principles, Lakeland, and more]

Coney Street, like the high street of shopping and also home to Betty's Cafe and Tea Rooms [H&M, Mango, Boots, Top Shop, Next, BHS, Dorothy Perkins, Lush, Tie Rack, Miss Selfridge, Wallis]. One street over is Parliament Street [Gap, Accessorize, Debenhams, and more].

» Designer Outlet Centre (McArthur Glen), Just outside York heading out towards Selby on Fulford Road, St. Nicholas Avenue, Fulford, York,

This inside shopping outlet offers deals on designer clothing, including fashion [Armani, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Crew Clothing, Fred Perry, Gap Outlet, Hobbs, Karren Millen, Mexx, Marks and Spencer, Moss, Next Clearance, Polo Ralph Lauren, Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger, and many more], children, food, drinks and confectionary, shoes and accessories, sports and outdoor, home and gifts, and jewellery/beauty. There is a food court area on the second floor.

» Monks Cross, this is a great place to shop if you want all the high street shops in one area, plus there's a TK Maxx. From Redwood Park, its the closest spot for fashion and shopping. Fashion shops include New Look, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topshop/Man, Next, Laura Ashley, River Island, BHS, Monsoon, and many more. Head down the A-19 towards York, at the large roundabout, go left onto the A1237 and stay on the York Ring Road until you see the sign for Monks Cross Shopping Park then turn right. » Clifton Moor, is more your home shopping venue, with Tesco Supermarket, Netto, Dunelm (home furnishings), B&Q, Factory Shack (electrical/beds), but there is a Matalan for those thrifty shoppers. Other shops include: Carpetworld, Homebase, Argos, B & Q, Comet, Currys, Mothercare, Shoe City, and Toys 'R' Us. Also there are a few restaurants around here, as well as a MacDonlds, a Burger King and a Vue cinema complex.
