The Canal

the canal

The canal is a feature-rich lake, accessible from the main car park. The canal averages 12.5m wide, and is over 400m long, hosting 45 fishing pegs. A typical cross-section in most pegs reveals a short shelf at both banks, with a slightly deeper main channel.

Fish stocked in The Canal Lake:

This 'super-canal' provides large quality bags of silver fish, with enough Carp to keep your elastic moving! Fish also include: Bream, Barbel, Chub, Roach, Rudd and Perch. Some are Carp 10lb+.

To decide if The Canal is the right lake for your day of fishing, review our "Which Lake" guide.

Redwood Park is host to 7 fishing lakes: Redwood Lake, The Arc, The Canal, The Lagoon, Jessica's Pond, Lily's Pond, and The Moat. You can also read about the facilities we have on offer. Or use our guide, Which Lake to Fish?

Baits/Tactics for The Canal:

  • Fish maggot, caster or chopped worm in margin or just over the shelf for silvers and some F1s.
  • For larger weights in matches, fish tight to far bank with hard pellet. Sometimes it is worth trying
‘up-in-the-water’ 3/4 across for Carp and F1s on Pellets
